What are the advantages and disadvantages of rope, quilted and quick dry comfort hammocks?
The hammock you choose is based on personal preference. There is no best choice -- just one that will most closely fit your needs.
Rope hammocks are the most traditional choice. They are also our most popular hammock style. Rope hammocks allow air to flow through the weave of the hammock and can be considered "cooler". A rope hammock will also conform more to your body -- cradling you more than other styles. Rope hammocks are the best selection for solitary adults (or for people who like to snuggle). They are generally more economical than fabric hammocks. Rope hammocks are the best choice for windy locations, as they won't twist as readily in the wind. DuraCord® rope hammocks are an excellent choice if you will often leave your hammock out in the weather. They will stand up to it better than some hammocks.
Quilted and quick dry hammocks are both classified as fabric hammocks. Fabric hammocks have a more contemporary look than the traditional rope hammock, and are available in a variety of patterns and colors to match the decor of your yard or patio. They are less form-hugging/cradling, so they are a good choice if the hammock will be used by children or older adults, or for sharing. Fabric hammocks are usually easier to get safely into and out of than rope hammocks.
A quilted hammock offers a quilted bed. There is less air flow, so they are a good choice for cooler spots. They are the most soft and comfortable hammock, especially for older adults.
Quick dry comfort hammocks (also, known as single layer hammocks) are handy around the pool or lake because they dry extremely quickly. They are an excellent choice for hot, wet locations. And they are easy clean -- which makes it easier if you are wearing sunscreen, etc. DuraCord® quick dry hammocks are an excellent choice if you will often leave your hammock out in the weather. They will stand up to it better than some hammocks.
Note that hammock canopies are not recommended for windy areas.
If space is not available for a hammock, swings are a good choice. Single swings are recommended for outdoor or indoor use. Their soft seat is popular with elderly or arthritic adults because they don't cause a lot of pressure on joints. Our swing spring can add a relaxing, comfy bounce to your swing.
