One of the most frequent questions we get from our Canadian customers is, "If you are located in Canada, then why is your web site in US dollars?"  It's a good question, and we think we have a great answer.  One reason is that our suppliers are in the United States.  We buy with US dollars and so do you, so you always get the current exchange value on your Canadian dollar.  We could sell in Canadian dollars, but it would be a full time job keeping up with the exchange rate!  We keep our overhead down by selling in US dollars.  That means we can give you the best price possible.

Currency:  Note that orders shipped to Canada are in US dollars. 

Shipping costs:  You are only responsible for shipping in Canada.  This cost will be identified in the product specifications (scroll down under "more info") and will be added to your bill when you check out.  For instance, if you order a gorgeous quick dry hammock, the specs will tell you that a shipping charge of $18.00 will be added to your bill when you check out.

We are certain that when you do the math and make the comparisons product for product, you will see the advantage of shopping with us -- we save you money!  

Shop and compare, you will see that we're right.  We don't hide anything in the price.   If you live in Vancouver, you don't pay the same for shipping as someone in Edmonton.  If your order is $150 you don't pay the same brokerage as someone who's order is $600.  We don't average costs, so you only pay actual costs. They are calculated as follows.

Duty: Some of our items are made outside of the NAFTA countries (Canada, USA, or Mexico).  For items made in non-NAFTA countries, the product specifications will show the country of origin and the percentage duty.  We cannot collect the duty amount from you, so it is payable to Canada Customs.  (Sample calculation:  If item is $100.00, and the duty is 12.5%, the duty will be $12.50 -- payable upon delivery.)

Brokerage: 

Most of our hammocks and smaller items can be shipped by US Postal Service/Canada Post to avoid brokerage costs, but some items (like stands) are too big or too heavy.  Feel free to contact us about this.  Or you can just tell us in the comment line on your order form that you prefer regular postal service if possible.

All purchases over $20.00 Canadian coming into Canada via UPS ground are subject to brokerage fees to clear customs -  it's the same for any carrier except USPS and Canada Post, and their size restrictions are limiting .  The amount of brokerage is dependent on the total value of your order, so we can't attach a brokerage amount to individual products.  Note that in addition to this fee, UPS charges a COD fee and a disbursement fee, for a total of $10.10 (US dollars).  Also note that your order is in US dollars and the table below is in Canadian dollars.  See http://www.xe.com/ucc/  to convert.  The brokerage amount will be payable when you receive your order.  Fed ex brokerage rates for ground delivery are pretty much the same.

For example, an order of up to $500 (Canadian dollars!)  will have about $55 (CAD) of brokerage and fees payable upon delivery.  An order of up to $1600 (CA) will have about $78 (CAD) of brokerage and fees payable upon delivery. 

GST:  As well, UPS will collect GST on the purchase.  We all know there's no escaping the GST!
